Chapter Seventeen:

Jordyn tossed and turned. Her body needed the sleep, but her mind wouldn’t let her go. She was trying to figure out her next move, Chink had said that he would help her. She decided she needed to go ahead with the kidnapping because the longer that Goldie was gone, the more the likelihood that they might hurt him.

She wished that Pick had not moved to the west coast with Julio to handle that side of the business. Jordyn knew for sure that Pick would be able to find his brother and possibly talk some sense into him. Dent just didn’t know he was making it worse on himself. With the anger that she had building up against him, she didn’t plan to have no mercy on him. This time she was going to kill him and Chink wasn’t going to be able to stop her.

She got up and surprisingly Chink wasn’t there. She headed down the hall to check on the kids because she thought she heard some giggling. She pushed open Peace’s bedroom door and him and Joi was sitting in the middle of the bed playing Uno. Jordyn went inside smiling.

“Please tell me you guys haven’t been up all night playing cards?” she said as she plopped down on the bed and peeped in the both of their hands to see what they were holding.

“Nope, we were playing before we went to sleep and we started playing when we woke up. We really just practicing against each other, we got to get better because Destiny wins all the time,” Joi said to her mother as she wrapped one of her arms around her neck and nuzzled her.

“The only reason she win is because she is a big kid,” Peace said as he threw down a card.

“I’m the Uno master, who you think taught Destiny how to play? Let’s start over, this time deal me in.” Just being in their presence was like medicine. Jordyn was suddenly feeling better.

She didn’t realize how much time had passed by until her little sister walked into the bedroom and told her that she needed to be dropped off to her piano lessons. “Uggggggggghhhhhh, whose idea was all these lessons?” Jordyn said as she got up off the bed.

“We gonna be ready for you Destiny, we been practicing,” Peace said as he got off the bed and went and grabbed his aunt’s hand.

“Yup, we are going to whoop your butt on the next game so you better pray hard about it,” Joi said laughing.

Destiny laughed loud at her niece and nephew. “It’s gonna take more than staying up all night playing against each other to beat me. I’m the Uno master.”

“Because mommy is the one that taught you!” Joi hollered.

“You guys put on your house shoes so you can ride with me to drop Destiny off. We can get Mickey D’s on the way.

“I don’t want Mickey D’s, I want Waffle House,” Joi said.

Jordyn looked at her daughter. “Girl what you
